Jake Turner lives on a mixed farming enterprise north of Lake Cargelligo, NSW. He is currently in his first year of a Bachelor of Agricultural Business Management at Charles Sturt University in Wagga Wagga, NSW. Jake’s passion for the beef industry and the Angus breed started at Yanco Agricultural High School where he was actively involved in the cattle showstock team from years 7 to 12. Alongside seven other like-minded people, Jake is stoked to have the opportunity to not only represent Angus Australia at the World Angus Forum, but also Australia’s wider beef industry.
Angus and Angus influenced cattle are run in varied environments across Australia, with members of Angus Australia breeding cattle in all states and territories.
These members can be found from the high altitudes of the Monaro, with cold temperatures and variable seasons to the boggy conditions experienced during wet winters in Gippsland, Victoria, as well as in the hot, dry conditions of central and Northern Australia.
Welcome to Australia
If you are heading to Australia for the 2025 Neogen World Angus Forum and looking to extend your time exploring this beautiful country, each state and territory of Australia has their own unique experience.
Angus cattle feature right across the country so if you wish to mix business with pleasure then make sure you visit one or more of the states below to get the full Aussie Angus experience.
Many people are aware of South Australia’s world class wine regions and as a producer of export quality cereals and hay, they are possibly unaware of one of our hidden gems – our Angus genetics. Angus cattle have been developed in South Australia since 1893. Whilst South Australian Angus breeders are renowned for producing Angus and Angus infused cattle that supply all sectors of the beef markets, our seedstock producers are the living embodiment of “An Angus for Every System”. From the cooler, coastal climates of the Adelaide Hills and the South East to the hotter, semi-arid Far North, Angus genetics thrive. Angus SA seedstock producers have a wide selection of high end genetics that will help drive your cattle operation forward. Many Angus operations both commercial and seedstock , are located near the premier wine regions including the Coonawarra, Limestone Coast, Mclaren Vale, Langhorne Creek and the Barossa Valley. Each year, South Australian Angus seedstock producers offer approximately 1200 high quality, registered Angus bulls during “Angus Week” in late Summer . Our sale programmes are regarded as some of the highest concentrations of registered Angus bulls for sale in the country. It’s no surprise that the standard of our genetics attracts commercial and seedstock buyers from New South Wales, Victoria and Queensland as well as international semen company buyers. We encourage you to consider visiting us and discover our hidden gems.
Bookings have started for all parts of the 2025 Neogen World Angus Forum – AngusTREK, brought to you by Zoetis, starting in Sydney on 29TH April, the Neogen Forum itself in Brisbane on 7th and 8th May and the Post Tour from 9th to 16th May 2025.
If you are planning to attend all or some of these events, and haven’t booked your flights yet, please consider adding a stop in Western Australia on your way to or from the Forum events. We should add that Sydney is about a 5 hour flight from Perth, and Brisbane less than 6 hours.
The WA Angus Committee is preparing a booklet with details of WA attractions as well as of 15 of our leading Angus enterprises who would love to say hello and share their Angus breeding story with you. All going well, that booklet will be available to download from this site in September. There won’t be any cost attached to your visits but you will need to hire a car and be prepared for some overnight hotel stays. There are a few studs within the radius from Perth for a day visit; many more will need an overnight (or two or three or more) stays from Northampton in the north to Esperance in the east and lots more in between. There will be suggestions for trips taking in our Angus enterprises as well as some other attractive places to visit. Western Australia is a large state geographically but we have large hearts to match!

Despite being one of Australia’s smaller states, Victoria is a powerhouse when it comes to breeding quality Angus cattle to suit many markets. Hosting the famed Western District weaner sales in January and February of each year and the Mountain Calf Sales in March of each year – thousands of Angus cattle end up across the country performing in abbatoirs, feedlots, breeding programs and commercial herds alike. Victoria is responsible for the sale of over 2000 bulls annually – all coming from stud Angus operations including some of the largest herds in the country right down to small studs breeding a few bulls. Outside of breeding quality Angus cattle, Victoria is renowned for its picturesque landscape from the beauty of Bright and the Australian Alps in the north-east to the adventure of travelling along the Great Ocean Road in the south, cruising the rolling lush hills of Gippsland in the south-east, unwinding in Gariwerd (Grampians) National Park in the West or eating your way through the foodie heaven that is the wineries, dairies, and orchards of the north-west. Angus Victoria works proudly to represent the interests of Angus broadly in this great Southern state, and we would like to take this opportunity to warmly welcome delegates and visitors to the World Angus Forum and Australia on the whole. We hope you can make it down south either around the World Angus Forum or for our state-wide Beef Week held in late January each year.
